Sunny Days

Lilly was up at 8 this morning, allowing me to sleep in a little bit which was nice!! She had a good breakfast--melon and cheese and then we got ready to go to her swimming class. She did very well again today, and the teacher is very impressed with how advanced she is for someone her age (being able to climb out of the pool on her own, monkey walking the entire length of the pool alone). When we got home, she wanted to watch Elmo, and was fascinated with the iPod Charlie got me for my birthday...so much so that I had to hide it from her! She was really cute imitating me listening to it though, finding a phone card to act as her headphones.

She had some lunch and then we went outside to play. It was a beautiful sunny day and very warm at noon--about 85'! We played with her new bubble machine from her Aunt Kim and Uncle Ken, and her sidewalk chalk. She also did some sliding (on her tummy!) and she had a nice chat with our neighbor across the fence. At 1, we went inside and she took a nap, sleeping until almost 4.

After a quick snack, we went back outside, where we stayed until dinner time at 6. We went over to see Kate next door, who had set up a lemonade stand, and then came back here to play on the slide some more. The temperature had dropped almost 20' by that time--lake breeze--so we were both bundled up! To convince her to come inside, I told her she could have some lip gloss and that she could wash her hands in the big sink, which she loves to do.She ate a wonderful dinner tonight--spaghetti, cottage cheese and few bites shy of an entire pear! Afterward she asked if we could take a shower, so that's what we did. She settled down in the TV room with her milk and Elmo and then Charlie got home, which made her very happy. She must have said "Daddy home" 6 or 7 times! At 8, we were able to get her to bed. Tonight she insisted on taking one of the couch throw pillows with her!!

Swimming Class

I didn't take any pictures today, but since I didn't post any yesterday, I can put those ones up. They were all taken at Lilly's gym class...which is now called "pactivities"...half gym and half arts and crafts. Lilly wasn't too interested in the crafts part, but I had a fun time making her an Easter hat!

This morning was rough for me and Charlie, especially for Charlie though since he had to get up at 5 to catch a flight to Minneapolis. We didn't get to bed until after 2 last night. Lilly woke up around 7:30 and was in a pretty good mood. She had some turkey and cheese for breakfast and then we got ready for her swimming class. She has a fantastic teacher this time around, and we were both happy to see her friend Lauren from the last time we took the class. She was very happy to be in the water and blew lots of bubbles...a new trick! When we got home we had some lunch and then I had a dental appointment. Lilly was very well behaved while we were there, though she did go into the diaper bag and pull out my wallet....and took every last thing out of it! At least she wasn't crying though, that was good!
She went down for her nap when we got home, and I did a little cleaning. Once she woke up, she had a snack and then we went out for a walk around the block. A couple of times today she went searching the house for Ellie, and it was so heartbreaking to watch. She seems confused about why she isn't around, and though I know she doesn't know what death is, I've been honest with her about what happened (to a point). We spent some time looking at pictures of Ellie tonight on the computer, which turned into a cry fest for both me and Charlie. Tonight when Lilly went to bed, she insisted on taking one of her "Ellies" with her.

Goodbye sweet girl

We just got home from the emergency clinic where we made the very difficult decision to euthanize Ellie Mae. This evening after giving her her nightly fluids, she lost her ability to walk and then started to lose her bowel functions. She wasn't responsive as we took her into the ER and we were told that her blood pressure was so low that they were having trouble finding a vein so they could get fluids into her. Her heart rate was 40 bpm, about 1/3 of what it should have been. We were able to spend some time with her and left with very heavy hearts. I am grateful though that she's no longer in any pain.

ok well I don't think I even have to mention how disturbed and upset I am that blogger completely got rid 3 months of my other blog with no notice. So for now I will be starting over...and not happy about it.
